Redistribution of Y+REE in sedimentary rocks of the Moravo-Silesian Culm

Abstract:

Tato práce se zabývá vznikem REE minerálů v sedimentech protivanovského souvrství kulmu Drahanské vrchoviny. V teoretické části je popis distribuce REE v sedimentech a procesů, které se účastní vzniku novotvořených REE fází. Autigenní REE fáze z drob a břidlic protivanovského souvrství byly studované elektronovou mikrosondou. V drobách i břidlicích se v hojné míře vyskytují autigenní fluorokarbonáty REE. Tyto REE fáze jsou buď chemicky homogenní (převážně synchysit-(Ce)) nebo tvoří lamelovaná zrna srůstajících se dvou REE fází, patrně synchysitu-(Ce) a parisitu-(Ce). V pórech břidlic byl také nalezen REE silikát, který tvoří velmi drobná zrna do 5 µm, avšak neodpovídá žádnému známému minerálu. Autigenní monazit byl nalezen pouze v jednom vzorku břidlic a je často v asociaci s TiO2 fází. Chemicky se jedná o monazit-(Ce) s nízkým obsahem Th, U, Y a HREE. Z chemického složení hornin lze usuzovat na závislost mezi vznikem a chemismem autigenních REE fází a výskytem detritického monazitu vůči obsahu CaO v drobách. V CaO chudých drobách nevznikají autigenní REE fáze a je v nich přítomen částečně alterovaný detritický monazit. V drobách s vyšším obsahem CaO vznikají autigenní REE karbonáty. Dále obsahy CaO v drobách dobře korelují s obsahy CaO v REE fluorokarbonátech. Břidlice jsou chemicky uniformní a žádná závislost vůči obsahům CaO a výskytu REE minerálů pozorována nebyla.

Abstract:

This work deals with formation of REE minerals in sediments of the Protivanov Formation in Drahany Upland. In theoretical part is a description of REE distribution in sediments and processes involved in the formation of newly formed REE phases. Authigenic REE phases were studied by electron microprobe. Authigenic REE fluorocarbonates are common in greywackes and shales. They are either chemically homogeneous (predominantly synchysite-(Ce)) or form laminated grains composed probably from synchysite-(Ce) and parisite-(Ce). In the pores of the shale was also found REE silicates which form a very small grains < 5 µm, but does not match any known mineral. Authigenic monazite in association with TiO2 was found in one sample of shale. It corresponds to monazite-(Ce), with a low content of Th, U, Y and HREE. From the chemical composition of rocks suggests the relationship between formation and chemical conditions authigenic REE phases and occurrence of detrital monazite due to CaO content in greywacke. Authigenic REE minerals don’t form in CaO poor greywacke. In greywackes with higher content of CaO authigenic REE carbonates formed. Furthermore, CaO contents in greywackes correlate well with CaO contents in REE fluorocarbonates. The shales are chemically uniform and no relationship to the content of CaO and REE minerals haven’t been observed.
