The premature termination of pregnancy of women in Uganda, Zambia and Botswana

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá problematikou potratovosti u žen v Zambii, Ugandě, Botswaně a jejím dopadem na společnost. Teoretická část práce přináší rozdělení potratů a blíže se posléze věnuje umělému přerušení těhotenství v rozvojových zemích subsaharské Afriky. Popsána je legislativa a legálnost potratové politiky a její historie ve třech vybraných zemích, společně s Maputským protokolem. Nejčastější problémy spojené s nebezpečnými umělými potraty prováděnými bez dohledu zdravotníků jsou: krvácení (diseminovaná intravaskulární koagulopatie a těžká anémie), sepse, poranění, renální selhání a s tím spojená mateřská mortalita. Diplomová práce poukazuje na význam vzdělání populace v rodinném plánování a užívání adekvátních antikoncepčních metod. Tím se zabývaly i vytyčené Rozvojové cíle milénia a Cíle udržitelného rozvoje OSN, které jsou v práci také popsány. Druhá část diplomové práce analyzuje dopady vysoké míry potratovosti na společnost, ekonomiku, zdravotnictví. Analyzuje i souvislost mezi nebezpečnými a nelegálními potraty a mateřskou mortalitou ve třech výše vybraných zemí subsaharské Afriky.

Abstract:

Diploma thesis deals with the problem of abortion in Zambia, Uganda and Botswana and the impact of abortion on society. The theoretical part of the thesis divides types of abortion and afterwards focuses on artificial interruption of pregnancy in developing countries of sub -Saharan Africa. Theoretical part of the thesis also describes the legislation and legality of abortion policy and its history in these selected countries together with the Maputo Protocol. The most frequent problems associated with artificial interruption of pregnancy carried out without medical supervision are: bleeding (disseminated intravascular coagulopathy and severe anemia), sepsis, injuries, renal failure, and maternal mortality. Diploma thesis points to the importance of population education in field of family planning and the use of proper contraceptive methods. The Millennium Development Goals and the UN Sustainable Development Goals also deal with these topics and because of that they are described in the theoretical part of the thesis. The second part of the thesis analyzes the impacts of high abortion rates on society, economy and. Diploma thesis also analyzes the linkbetween unsafe illegal abortions and maternal mortality in three chosen countries of sub-Saharan Africa.
