urrent development of CSDP and the Czech Republic's involvement in EU military missions

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce zkoumá pohled České republiky na své členství ve Společné bezpečnostní a obranné politice (SBOP). Cílem práce bylo vyhodnotit, jestli a jak Česká republika reflektuje svoje členství, konkrétně pak prostřednictvím účasti na vojenských misích v rámci SBOP. Práce se opírá o teoretický rámec, který se věnuje bezpečnosti v mezinárodních vztazích. Zejména pak jejímu liberálnímu a konstruktivistickému pojetí, které pracuje s bezpečnostními společenstvími. Právě bezpečnostní společenství jsou následně v práci představena a je na ně navázáno konkrétním případem, kterým je SBOP. Výzkum pro tuto práci proběhl prostřednictvím analýzy textu, konkrétně pak strategických dokumentů České republiky, které vykreslily percepci SBOP v českém prostředí v průběhu času. Na základě výzkumu byly identifikovány možné faktory ovlivňující vývoj vztahu České republiky ke SBOP a pravděpodobné možnosti dalšího vývoje.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis examines the Czech Republic’s perception of its membership in the Common Security and Defence Policy (CSDP). The aim of the thesis was to assess whether and how the Czech Republic reflects its membership, specifically through participation in military missions within the CSDP. The thesis is based on a theoretical framework that focuses on security in international relations. In particular liberal and constructivist conceptions of security that work with security communities. It is the security communities that are subsequently introduced in the thesis and are followed up with a specific case study, which is CSDP. The research for this thesis has been conducted through textual analysis, specifically of strategic documents of the Czech Republic that have portrayed the perception of CSDP in the Czech environment over time. Based on the research, possible factors influencing the evolution of the Czech relationship with CSDP and likely possibilities for further development were identified.
