The Impact of Non-Tariff Barriers of International Trade on Tobacco Industry

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se věnuje problematice netarifních překážek mezinárodního obchodu a konkrétně jejich vlivu na tabákový průmysl. Cílem je rozbor současné situace na základě teoretických poznatků a historického vývoje. První část práce je spojením teorie a historických souvislostí jak v případě netarifních překážek, tak pro tabákový průmysl. Jejím završením je popis současného postavení tabákového průmyslu na světových trzích. Ve druhé polovině práce jsou rozebírány dopady netarifních překážek na soudobý tabákový průmysl, a to především v USA, Číně, Austrálii a v České republice. Situaci v České republice je věnována zvýšená pozornost i proto, že místní legislativa do velké míry kopíruje společná Unijní nařízení. Na základě shromážděných poznatků byly identifikovány způsoby netarifní regulace tabákového průmyslu a byl vytvořen nástin možného dalšího vývoje v sektoru.

Abstract:

The bachelor thesis deals with the problematic of non-tariff barriers on international trade, particularly with their influence on tobacco industry. The main goal is to analyze current situation on the basis of theoretical findings and historical evolution. The first part of the thesis is combination of theory and historical context for both non-tariff measures and tobacco industry. The result is description of current status of tobacco industry in global markets. The primary point of the second part of the thesis is the analysis of non-tariff barriers on contemporary tobacco industry in USA, China, Australia and in Czech Republic. Higher concerns on situation in Czech Republic are based on fact that the common regulations of EU are taking the main point in local tobacco-related legislation. Ways of non-tariff regulation of tobacco industry have been identified based on collected findings and also the possible outline of future evolution has been suggested.
