Abstract:

Cílem bakalářské práce je vyzkoumat transpozice antické látky (Pygmalión) do moderní podoby, konkrétně v dramatu George Bernarda Shawa Pygmalión, v muzikálu Alana Jaye Lernera My Fair Lady a v jeho brněnském uvedení (My Fair Lady ze Zelňáku). Práce se zabývá žánrovými a interpretačními posuny Pygmaliónu, ukazuje některé z jeho nejznámějších adaptací a postoj umělce k vlastnímu výtvoru. Situace Pygmaliónu je v práci srovnávána s Platónovými myšlenkami. Důležité místo v řešení zvolené problematiky zaujímá pojem „mýtu“ a jeho aplikace na umění.

Abstract:

The aim of this thesis is to investigate the transposition of a classical myth, i.e. Pygmalion, to the modern form in the drama of George Bernard Shaw's Pygmalion, the musical My Fair Lady by Alan Jay Lerner and its introduction in Brno. The work deals with different genres and interpretative changes of the subject-matter, it describes some of its famous adaptations and analyses the highly personal attitude of the artist to his own creation. The situation of Pygmalion is then compared with Plato's thoughts. Analysis is concentrated upon the role of creative „illusions“ and of the myth and of the classical mythology in the contemporary art.
