The Resonance of Economic Crisis in Portugal

Abstract:

Předmětem bakalářské práce je analýza hospodářského vývoje Portugalska v období roků 1995 - 2013. Jejím cílem je najít odpověď na otázku, co je důvodem narůstajícího zadlužení Portugalska v posledních letech. Práce začíná popisem historického vývoje ekonomiky Portugalska a popisem makroekonomických veličin a jejich srovnáním s dalšími evropskými zeměmi. Prostřední část práce se zaměřuje na faktory, které měly vliv na růst státního dluhu. Další část se zaměřuje na popis vlivu finanční krize, popis reakce vlády a žádost o mezinárodní pomoc. Poslední část práce tvoří ekonometrický model, který popisuje vliv faktorů na státní dluh. Z výsledků práce vyplývá, že hlavním důvodem narůstajícího státního dluhu byla stagnace ekonomického způsobená především nedostatečnou konkurenceschopností a malou produktivitou.

Abstract:

The objective of Bachelor's thesis is the analysis of economic development of Portugal in the period between 1995 - 2013. The mail goal is to find the answer to the question, what is the reason of increasing government debt of Portugal in recent years. At the beginning of the thesis the historical development and development of macroeconomic indicators are specified and compared with other European countries. The middle part of the thesis is focused on main factors influencing increasing of the government debt. Next part of the thesis is focused on analysis of the influence of the global financial crisis, description of the government reaction and request for the international help. The last part of the thesis is composed of the econometric model which describes the influence of factors on the government debt. The results of the thesis indicated that the main reason of increasing government debt is stagnation of the economic growth caused primarily by insufficient competitiveness and the lack of productivity.
