Social work deconsecration in the 2nd half of the 19th century and in the 1st half of the 20th centur

Abstract:

Práce se zaobírá procesem odnáboženštění našeho světa v 19. století a jeho dopa­dem na péči o chudé a nemocné. Časovým vymezením odpovídá době od Velké francouz­ské revoluce po začátek první světové války. Smyslem práce je velmi stručně rekapitulovat doposud největší změnu charity v dějinách. Nesnaží se nabídnout odpovědi na konkrétní historické otázky; spíše nabízí globální pohled na období důležité jak pro charitu, tak pro celou civilizaci. Obsahově je práce dělena do šesti kapitol: V prvních dvou se táže, co vlastně křesťanská charita je, jak vznikla, čím je specifická. Následně se zabývá obecnou historií sekularizace, kterou zakládá na reformačních událostech 16. století. Poté přechází k otázce velkých změn naší civilizace po roce 1848. Poslední dvě kapitoly popisují reakci církve na novou společnost a konkrétní případy proměny charitativní péče. Závěr se pak pokouší o zhodnocení celého procesu a jeho dopadech na charitu.

Abstract:

This thesis studies the process of deconsecration of the world in the 19th century and its consequences in the care of poor and sick people. The timescale ranges from the French Revolution era to the beginning of the 1st World War. The aim of the work is to shortly overview the most important change in charity so far. The thesis does not provide answers to certain historical questions; however it provides a global view on the era that is very important for the charity and for the whole civilization. The thesis itself is divided into six chapters. The first two chapters deal with the Christian charity, its formation and its specific aspects. The following chapter studies the history of consecration based on the reformation events in the 16th century. In the next chapter the important changes in our civilization after the 1848 are studied. The last two chapters describe the reaction of the Church to the new society. Also the selected cases of the changes in the charity care are included. In the conclusion part the author tries to asses the whole process and its consequences for the charity.
