Household consumption: socio-economic, demographic and spatial differentiation of cohesion regions in the Czech Republic

Abstract:

Diplomová práce je zaměřena na identifikaci souvislostí mezi demografickými a socioekonomickými indikátory a spotřebním vydáním domácností v České republice na úrovni regionů soudržnosti. Pro dosažení těchto cílů byla použita metoda shlukové analýzy, kvalitativní analýza pro interpretaci výsledků shlukové analýzy a komparativní metoda pro hodnocení prostorové diferenciace. Ke shlukové analýze byla využita data socioekonomických a demografických indikátorů a spotřebního vydání domácností z ČSÚ. Pozitivní disparitu v tomto ohledu představuje Praha a Střední Čechy, které dosahují nejlepších hodnot zjišťovaných indikátorů a spotřeby domácností. Negativní disparitou můžeme shledat Moravskoslezsko, a to jak po stránce demografických a socioekonomických indikátorů, tak i spotřebního vydání. V rámci spotřeby domácností, se negativně vyčleňuje i region soudržnosti Jihozápad. Zejména tyto problémové regiony soudržnosti je nutné stimulovat a zajistit tak snižovaní existujících disparit, jelikož vedou k snížené kvalitě lidského kapitálu, který je z hlediska udržitelného rozvoje nežádoucí.

Abstract:

The thesis is focused on identification of context between demographic and socioeconomic indicators and household consumption in the Czech Republic at the level of cohesion regions. Cluster analysis, qualitative analysis for interpretation of cluster analysis results and comparative method for evaluation of spatial differentiation were used to achieve these goals. Data from socio-economic and demographic indicators and consumption expenditure of households from the ČSÚ were used for cluster analysis. On this count positive disparities are represented by Prague and Central Bohemia, which achieve the best values of all indicators and household consumption. The Moravian-Silesian region can be found as a negative disparity, in terms of demographic and socio-economic indicators, as well as household consumtion. In the context of household consumption, the Southwest cohesion region is also negative. Exactly these problematic cohesion regions need to be stimulated to ensure that these disparities are reduced as they lead to poor human capital which is undesirable in terms of sustainable development.
