Anotace:

Bakalářská práce „Gil Evans a Miles Davis – Porgy and Bess: analýza díla a komparace s původní verzí George Gershwina“ pojednává o jazzovém albu Milese Davise Porgy and Bess. V práci je kladen důraz na roli Gila Evanse jakožto aranžéra a spoluautora projektu. Cílem práce je porovnat toto jazzové album s původní stejnojmennou operou George Gershwina, se zaměřením na kompoziční a aranžérské přístupy Gila Evanse. Hlavním tématem komparace jsou hudební teorie, okolnosti vzniku a námět obou děl. Práce obsahuje historické výkladové pasáže a rovněž rozbory jednotlivých skladeb.

Abstract:

Bachelor thesis „Gil Evans and Miles Davis - Porgy and Bess: The Analysis of the work and comparison with the original version of George Gershwin” deals with Porgy and Bess, the jazz album of Miles Davis. The emphasis is placed on the role of Gil Evans as the arranger and co-author of the project. The aim of the thesis is to compare the jazz album with the original opera of the same name by George Gershwin, with a focus on the composition and arrangement approaches of Gil Evans. The main topic of the comparison is music theory, the circumstances of origin and the theme of both works. The thesis features historical interpretative passages as well as the analysis of individual songs.
