Signatures of theories of gravity beyond Einstein Equivalence Principle

Abstract:

Tato doktorská práce shrnuje výsledky mého výzkumu týkajícího se snahy pochopit signatury teorií gravitace, které nesplňují Einsteinův princip ekvivalence. Konkrétně to jsou gravitační lensing v Hořavově gravitaci, otisky přítomnosti černoděrového firewallu v optických efektech systému Keplerovský disk-černá díra a vlastnosti prostoročasů se zahrnutím torze. Zde je ukázán vliv Hořavova parametru na gravitační lensing. Taky jsou diskutovány observační vlivy firewallu na obrazy systémů keplerovský disk-černá díra. Jsou odvozeny a diskutovány modifikace Raychaudhuriho rovnic s ohledem na přítomnost torze v teorii. S pomocí modifikované Raychaudhuriho rovnice je ukázáno, že se lze, v rámci Einsteinovy–Cartanovy teorie, vyhnout vzniku singularity při Oppenheime- rově–Snyderově kolapsu. Nakonec je také odvozena modifikace Hartleova–Hawkingova přílivového ohřevu jako důsledku existence torze. Tento výsledek může být velmi užitečný pro testovámí teorií gravitace s torzí, které mají minimální vazbu s Dirakovým polem.

Abstract:

This doctoral thesis summarizes the results of my investigation to understand the signatures of theories of gravity that fail to obey Einstein Equiavalence Principle. In particular, gravitational lensing in the Hořava gravity, imprint of black hole firewall on the optical appearance of the disk-black hole system, and properties of spacetime that includes torsion are studied. Effect of Hořava spacetime parameter on the gravitational lensing is presented. Also the observational features of the firewall on the emission line profile of radiating Keplarian disk and optical appearance of the disk-black hole system are discussed. Modifications in the Raychaudhuri equations due to the presence of torsion are derived and discussed. Using modified Raychaudhuri equation, it is shown that the formation of singularity in the Oppenheimer–Snyder gravitational collapse could be avoided in the Einstein–Cartan theory. Finally, a modification in Hartle–Hawking tidal heating due to torsion is also derived. This result could be very useful to test theories of gravity including torsion that couples minimally with the Dirac field.
