Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá realizací samohláskové délky českými mluvčími angličtiny. Záměrem teoretické části práce je prozkoumat systém anglických samohlásek, s hlavním zaměřením na samohláskovou délku a její délkovou rozdílnost způsobenou navazujícími souhláskami a porovnat odlišnosti mezi anglickým a českým samohláskovým systémem. Praktická část se zaměřuje na analýzu získaných nahrávek od českých mluvčí angličtiny, kteří studují angličtinu jako hlavní obor na univerzitě, a zkoumá jejich povědomí o rozdílných délkách samohlásek v angličtině. Cílem této práce je zjistit, jak si jsou čeští mluvčí angličtiny vědomi v jejich artikulaci zkracování délky samohlásky předcházející neznělé souhlásky.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis deals with the realisation of vowel length by Czech speakers of English. The aim of the theoretical part of this thesis is to explore the English vowel system, with its primary focus on vowel length and its difference caused by the following consonants, and to compare the differences between the English and Czech vowel system. The practical part focuses on analysing the obtained recordings of Czech speakers of English, who are studying English as their main subject at the university, and it examines their awareness of the different vowel lengths in English. The aim of this thesis is to find out how Czech speakers of English are aware in their articulation of shortening the length of a vowel preceding a voiceless consonant.
