The methods of control of selected invasive and expansive plant species

Abstract:

Rostlinné invaze představují v současné době celosvětový problém, který má negativní dopad jak na biodiverzitu, tak i na ekonomiku. Vlivem obchodu, cestování a dovozu potravin, které probíhají mezi kontinenty, se po světě rozšiřují cizokrajné rostlinné a živočišné druhy, které mohou mít negativní vliv na původní společenstva. Takové druhy označujeme jako invazní a je velmi důležité jim věnovat zvýšenou pozornost. Ve své bakalářské práci se snažím vytvořit obraz o problematice rostlinných invazí obecně a zaměřuji se na čtyři problematické druhy naší flóry. Jedná se o rostliny, které svým šířením mohou ohrozit druhovou bohatost krajiny tím, že původní druhy ze stanoviště vytlačí. Soustředím se na jejich původ, současné rozšíření, ekologii, dopady na životní prostředí a možnosti jejich eliminace. Největší pozornost věnuji právě poslednímu bodu, a to přístupu k omezování a odstraňování nežádoucích rostlin. Společně s vedoucím práce jsme také navrhli experiment v terénu, kde jsme zkoušeli některé z metod realizovat v praxi a porovnat jejich účinnost na vybrané druhy.

Abstract:

Plant invasions are currently a worldwide problem that has a negative impact on both the biodiversity and economy. Due to the trade, travel and import of food that is taking place between the continents the exotic plants and animal species are expanding around the world, which can have a negative impact on the native communities. We call these species invasive and it is very important to pay more attention to them. In my bachelor thesis, I try to create a picture of plant invasion issues in general and focus on four problematic species of local flora. These are plants whose spread can endanger the species richness of landscape by pushing the original species out of their habitats. I focus on the origin, current extension, ecology, impact on the environment and the possibilities of the elimination of the aforementioned invasive species. I pay special attention to the very last point, that is reducing and removal of undesirable plants. In cooperation with the supervisor, we also designed an experiment in the field where we tried to implement some of the methods in practice and to compare their effectiveness on selected species.
