Florbela Espanca - the poetess of the pain.

Abstract:

Předkládaná práce se věnuje tématické analýze poezie portugalské básnířky Florbely Espancy. Věnuje se nejprve jejímu začlenění do historického vývoje portugalské literatury a vývoji recepce jejího díla i její osobnosti. Na základě analýzy básní vybraných básníků (Bernardim Ribeiro, Antero de Quental, António Nobre, Mário de Sá-Carneiro a Judith Teixeira), u kterých se projevuje stejný sklon k zobrazování bolesti, se poukazuje na to, jak je motiv bolesti v portugalské literatuře důležitý a všudypřítomný. Analýzou hlavních témat v díle Florbely Espancy dospíváme k názoru, že motiv bolesti se vine napříč všemi tématy, je obsažen v milostné poezii i v poezii meditativní. Tato bolest je v poezii Florbely Espancy bolestí z úzkosti, z nepoznatelnosti sebe sama i okolního světa.

Abstract:

This thesis deals with the analysis of the poetry of Portuguese poet Florbela Espanca. The first part of the thesis describes Florbela´s position in the context of Portuguese literature and the ever-changing attitude to her work and her personality. Analyzing poems of the Portuguese poets like Bernardim Ribeiro, Antero de Quental, António Nobre, Mário de Sá-Carneiro and Judith Teixeira, all of whom share with Florbela the same passion for depicting pain, we attempt to point at the importance and everlasting presence of the motive of pain in Portuguese literature. Due to the analysis of all major motives in Florbela´s poetry we come to a conclusion that the motive of pain is ever-present in all of them, it is a fundamental part of both love poems and meditative poems. This pain is in case of Florbela deeply rooted in an anxiety brought about by the impossibility of a human being to really know himself/herself and the surrounding world.
