Religious attitudes to suicide

Abstract:

Bakalářské práce Náboženské přístupy k sebevraždě pojednává o pohledu a přístupu především monoteistických náboženství na akt sebevraždy. V práci jsou zmíněny přístupy tří nejrozšířenějších monoteistických náboženství na světě. Judaismu, Křesťanství a Islámu. V úvodní části jsou zmíněny sebevraždy a náboženství v obecné rovině. V kapitole o judaismu v krátkosti zmíním počátky dějin Židovského národa na půdě Izraele. Popíšu sebevraždy, které se nacházejí v Tanachu, a podrobněji rozeberu příběh o Jobovi. Dále zmíním sebevraždy mezi Židy a na závěr přidám názor brněnského rabína, z něhož vyplývá právě postoj judaismu k sebevraždě. Zmíním i praktické stránky věci. V kapitole o křesťanství se v úvodu zaměřuji na postupnou separaci církví. Dále zmiňuji zbytek sebevražd v Bibli. Popisuji historický vztah křesťanství a sebevraždy a uvádím názory svatého Augustina a Tomáše Akvinského. Závěr tvoří názor faráře římskokatolické církve a teologa Milana Klapetky. Kapitolu o Islámu otvírá život proroka Muhammada, následuje několik zmínek o islámu obecně. Ve vztahu k sebevraždě udávám verše z Koránu a historicky známé muslimské sebevraždy. Zařadila jsem i kapitolu o sebevražedných atentátnících a černých vdovách. Závěr tvoří pohled předsedy Islámské nadace v Brně na danou problematiku.

Abstract:

Bachelor thesis Religious attitudes to suicide is about perspective monotheistic religions in the act of suicide. The work mentions approaches three most common monotheistic religions in the world. Judaism, Christianity, Islam. In the introductory part I describe suicide and religions generally. In the chapter of Judaism briefly mention the beginnings of the Jewish nation in the land of Israel. I will describe the suicide in Tanakh and analyze the story about Job´s. The next are suicides among Jews and opinion of Brno´s Rabbi, where we can see the attitude of Judaism to suicide. I will refer to the practical side of things. In the chapter of Christianity I will concentrate to the separation of the Churches. I will describe the rest of suicide in the Bible. I will describe historical relationships between Christianity and suicides and I will state views of St. Augustine and Thomas Aquinas. At the end there is an opinion of priest of the Roman Catholic Church and theologian Milan Klapetek. The chapter about Islam is starting by life of Muhammad and general mention of Islam. In relationship to suicide I will indicate verses from the Quran and historically famous Muslim suicides. There is a chapter about suicide bombers and black widows. At the end there is an opinion of chairman of the Islamic Foundation in Brno.
