Analysis and proposal for optimization of internal reporting in the selected company

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá problematikou interního reportingu v české pobočce mezinárodní společnosti. Hlavním cílem práce je zhodnotit stav systému interního reportingu, který je řízen oddělením controllingu, a identifikovat příležitosti pro jeho zlepšení v souladu s očekáváními hlavních zainteresovaných stran. K dosažení cíle práce je v teoretické části diskutována podstata a funkce controllingu a interního reportingu, včetně zhodnocení jeho přínosu pro společnost. V praktické části je zmapován interní reportingový systém společnosti a provedená analýza stakeholderů z pohledu oddělení controllingu včetně validace jejich potřeb a moci. Bylo provedeno šest polostrukturovaných rozhovorů se zaměstnanci za účelem sběru primárních dat od společnosti. Na základě zjištění z rozhovorů byla provedena analýza dat a navržena doporučení pro společnost v souladu se současnými trendy v této oblasti. Hlavní doporučenou strategií pro budoucí rozvoj reportingu je standardizace a konsolidace stávajících reportů, mimo jiné je navrženo využití Power BI pro přípravu komplexních přehledů pro management.

Abstract:

The diploma thesis deals with the issue of internal reporting in the Czech branch of an international company. The main objective of the work is to evaluate the state of the internal reporting system, which is managed by the controlling department, and to identify opportunities for its improvement in accordance with the expectations of the main stakeholders. To achieve the goal of the thesis, the essence and function of controlling and internal reporting is discussed in the theoretical part, including an evaluation of its contribution to the company. In the practical part, the company's internal reporting system is mapped and an analysis of stakeholders from the point of view of the controlling department is carried out, including the validation of their needs and power. Six semi-structured interviews were conducted with employees to collect primary data from the company. Based on the findings from the interviews, data analysis was performed and recommendations for the company were proposed in accordance with current trends in this area. The main recommended strategy for the future development of reporting is the standardization and consolidation of existing reports, among other things, the use of Power BI for the preparation of complex overviews for management is suggested.
