Popular card games from the perspective of game theory

Abstract:

Práce je zaměřena na hru Gwent z pohledu teorie her a pokouší se nalézt optimální strategie podle kterých se hráč může řídit. Práce se v rámci této hry z velké části zaměřuje na karty se speciálními schopnostmi a z důvodu tohoto zaměření jsou v práci vynechány jisté prvky a mechaniky reálné hry. Práce je rozdělena na několik částí kde v první části jsou popsány základy a pojmy teorie her, které jsou relevantní pro hru Gwent kdy v další části je popis samotné hry. V další části je popsán programovací jazyk C# a vývojové prostředí Visual Studio, ve kterém byl vytvořen simulační program. Ve čtvrté části jsou popsány základní prvky mého programu na což navazuje praktická část, ve které jsou charakterizovány vytvořené strategie s tabulkami výsledků simulací pro nalezené optimální strategie. Prvotní strategii, které se práce věnuje se zaměřuje na složení karet v balíčkách, a z výsledků těchto simulací se dále odvíjelo zaměření dalších vytvořených strategií. Na konci práce je hledaná optimální priorita pro tyto strategie, podle které se řídí inteligentní hráč, kdy nakonec jsou mezi sebou porovnány všechny vytvořené balíčky.

Abstract:

The thesis is focused on the game Gwent from the perspective of the game theory with the aim of trying to find an optimal strategy which player can follow. This thesis is mostly focused on cards with special abilities within the game and so for this reason some elements and mechanics are left out from the simulations. Thesis is split into several parts where in the first part is description of basics and terms of the game theory which are relevant for the game Gwent when in the next part is description of the game itself. In the next part is described programming language C# and development environment Visual Studio in which was made the simulation program. In the fourth part are described basic components of my program on which follows up the practical part of the thesis, in which are characterised created strategies and tables with results from simulations of found optimal strategies. Initial strategy with which deals this thesis is aimed at composition of cards in decks and on results of these simulations are based following focuses of created strategies. At the end of this thesis, we are looking for optimal priority for created strategies according to which the intelligent player follows when in the end we compare all created decks between each other.
