The influence of progressivity / innovation on understanding while working on a mathematically oriented task

Abstract:

Cílem diplomové práce je zjistit, jaký má vliv úroveň inovativnosti/progresivity učitele matematiky na průběh sebehodnocení žáka pátého ročníku základní školy při plnění matematické úlohy. S hlavním cílem práce souvisí dílčí výzkumné cíle, ve kterých zkoumáme vliv vedlejších faktorů, jako je například pohlaví nebo úspěšnost v testu matematických dovedností. V teoretické části je uvedena charakteristika příslušné věkové kategorie, do které spadají respondenti našeho výzkumného šetření. Dále jsou zde přiblíženy vnitřní procesy žáka související s řízením vlastního jednání. Patří sem autoregulační mechanismy jedince, fenomén metakognice a vše, co pod tento pojem spadá. Popsané je také matematické myšlení a Rogersova teorie o šíření inovací. V úvodu praktické části této práce je představena metodologie výzkumu, dále použité výzkumné nástroje a popis výzkumného vzorku. Také jsou zde uvedeny výzkumné problémy, cíle a hypotézy. Závěr diplomové práce se věnuje deskriptivní a induktivní analýze dat v rámci ověřování zadaných hypotéz. Výsledkem práce je potvrzený vliv sebehodnocení žáka ve smyslu metakognitivního monitorování vzhledem k úspěšnosti v didaktickém matematickém testu. U dalších sledovaných faktorů se vyskytl rozdíl úrovně sebehodnocení na základě pohlaví a mezi některými skupinami žáků rozdělených podle školního hodnocení z matematiky. Vliv, který se v rámci našeho výzkumu nepotvrdil, byla progresivita učitele na sebehodnocení žáka při řešení úloh spojených s matematikou.

Abstract:

The aim of this master's thesis is to determine the influence of the level of innovation/progressivity level of the teacher of mathematics on the process of self-assessment of the pupil of the fifth grade of elementary school in fulfilling the mathematics tasks. The main goal of the work is related to partial research objectives in which we examine the influence of secondary factors such as gender or success in the didactic test of mathematical skills. The theoretical part describes the characteristics of the relevant age category to which the respondents of this research study belong.In addition to this, the internal processes of the pupil related to the management of their own behavior are discussed. These include the self-regulation mechanisms of the individual, the phenomenon of metacognition, and everything that falls under this term. Mathematical thinking and Rogers' theory of dissemination of innovations are also described. In the introduction of the practical part of this thesis is introduced the research methodology, the research methods used and the description of the research sample. There are also research issues, goals and hypothesis. The conclusion of the master's thesis deals with descriptive and inductive analysis of data within the verification of given hypothesis. The result of the thesis is the confirmed influence of self-evaluation of the pupil in the sense of meta-cognitive monitoring due to the success in the didactic mathematical test. For the other monitored factors, there was a difference in the level of self-assessment based on gender and among some groups of pupils divided by school math assessment. The impact that was not confirmed in our research was the teacher's progressive self-assessment of the pupil in solving math problems.
