Summation of infinite series and Basel problem

Abstract:

V této bakalářské práci zkoumáme celkem devět řešení Basilejského problému - hledání součtu nekonečné řady převrácených hodnot druhých mocnin přirozených čísel. Každý postup obsahuje podrobné komentáře, využívající teorii nekonečných řad a určitých integrálů, uvedenou v první části práce. Třetí část je věnována zobecnění zkoumaného problému a doplněna dalšími souvisejícími výsledky. Pro některé z nich je naznačen i výpočet. V závěrečné části je provedeno srovnání jednotlivých důkazů po stránce složitosti a použitých nástrojů.

Abstract:

In this bachelor thesis we study nine different solutions to the Basel problem - finding the summation of the infinite series of the reciprocals of natural numbers squared. Each method contains detailed comments, using the theory about infinite series and definite integrals, which is introduced in the first part of the thesis. The third part is devoted to the generalization of the Basel problem with related results added. For some of them, there is also a calculation indicated. In the final part of the theses, the comparison of the methods is showed, looking at the difficulty and the tools used.
