The killing of the dragon in Furth and resent German history

Abstract:

Folk performance with a titel ,,Drachenstich“ is being played every year in summer in a small city Furth in Wald. This Bavarian town is situated near the Chzech borders and attract a lot of German and foreign visitors to the probably oldest folk performance in Europe. The play itself is about a battle against a dragon. The main actors are a knight Udo, charming Lady and also a man of power von Chamerau with his bad charakter. This play has already a lot of versions of scripts through out the time. In my Bachelor work I am concentrating on the version from J. M. Bauer, who wrote the script in the year 1953. He was the first Autor, who has set the story into a surroundings of Hussite´s fights. His version had been played until 2005 and was often interpreted as a hint on the second World war. In my Bachelor work I was searching for the very origins of this folk performance. Also I was interested in analysing Bauer´s Text. Especially I was focusing on motives with hussits and the motive of a dragon. Finally I was interested in finding out the motives that would be more related to Second world war.

Abstract:

Lidové divadlo s názvem, ,,Drachenstich“ se každoročně v létě hraje ve městě Furth in Wald. Toto bavorské městečko leží blízko českoněmeckých hranic a láká nejen německé ale i zahraniční návštěvníky ke zhlédnutí této zřejmě nejstarší lidové hry v Evropě. Ve hře samotné jde o boj s drakem. Hlavními postavami jsou Rytíř Udo, který má zabít draka, spanilá dáma, ale i mocenský pán von Chamerau, který má naopak záporný charakter. Tato hra měla již v průběhu doby mnoho verzí scénářů, podle kterých se divadlo hrálo. V mojí bakalářské práci se zaměřuji blíže na verzi od autora Josefa Martina Bauera, který text ke hře napsal v roce 1953. J. M. Bauer byl první autor, který prostředí hry zasadil do husitských válek a jeho verze se hrála až do roku 2005. Tato verze byla často vykládaná jako narážka na dění druhé světové války. V mojí bakalářské práci jsem se vydala po stopách této hry, až k jejímu vzniku, dále jsem se zajímala o analýzu textu ke hře od J. M. Bauera. Zajímali mě především motivy husitských válek, motiv draka a v jak velké míře se dají v textu najít právě motivy, které by se vztahovali ke druhé světové válce.
