Grovth and prosperity of the Douglas fir plantations in the area of Opočensko

Abstract:

Účelem této diplomové práce je posouzení růstového potenciálu douglasky tisolisté (Pseudotsuga menziesii /Mirbel/Franco) v porovnání s dalšími hospodářskými dřevinami České republiky. Sběr dat probíhal na zkusných plochách nacházejících se v lesích majetku Kristiny Colloredo-Mansfeldové na Opočensku. Jednalo se o 2 plochy, na kterých byla douglaska pěstována v různých směsích s borovicí, smrkem, dubem a bukem. Vyhodnocením výsledků za 5 let pozorování bylo zjištěno, že douglaska již v rané fázi porostu vykazuje prokazatelně rychlejší růstovou schopnost a v určitých případech až 2,5krát převyšuje produkční schopnost našich hospodářských dřevin. Přínosem této práce má být prokázání potencionálních produkčních schopností douglasky a jejich pozitivních přínosů pro naše lesnictví, včetně odolnosti a schopnosti přizpůsobit se současné klimatické změně.

Abstract:

The aim of this diploma thesis is to assess the growth potential of Douglas fir (Pseudotsuga menziesii / Mirbel / Franco) compared to other agricultural tree species of the Czech Republic. Data collection took place on the plots located in the forests of Kristina Colloredo-Mansfeld's property in Opočensko. There were 2 areas where douglas were grown in various mixtures with pine, spruce, oak and beech. By evaluating the results for 5 years of observation, it was found that Douglas already has a demonstrably faster growth rate in the early stage of growth, and in some cases has 2.5 times higher production potential than most of our agricultural tree species. The benefit of this work is to demonstrate the potential production capacities of douglas and their positive benefits to our forestry, including resilience and ability to adapt to current climate change.
