Iliotibial Band Syndrome in Runners

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá funkční problematikou syndromu iliotibiálního traktu u běžců, který se jeví jako jedno z nejčastějších poranění laterální strany kolenního kloubu. Součástí práce je teoretická a praktická část. První kapitola zahrnuje souhrn dosavadních poznatků o anatomii a funkci iliotibiálního traktu. Následující kapitoly se zaobírají incidencí, etiologií a rizikovými faktory, společně s diagnostikou a jednotlivými stádii léčby iliotibiálního syndromu u běžců. Praktická část je zaměřena především na správně odebranou anamnézu a klinické vyšetření probandky s problematikou iliotibiálního syndromu. Hlavním cílem této práce je dle diagnostiky navržení adekvátní terapie s aplikací vhodných fyzioterapeutických metod od fáze akutní až po návrat k běžecké aktivitě.

Abstract:

The bachelor thesis addresses functional problems of the iliotibial band syndrome in runners, which seems to be one of the most common injuries of the lateral knee joint line. The thesis contains a theoretical and a practical part. The first chapter summarises the up to date information about the anatomy and function of the iliotibial tract. Following chapters characterise the incidence, etiology and risk factors together with the diagnosis and individual stages of the iliotobial syndrome treatment in runners. The practical part centers primarily on the correct anamnesis and clinical examination of the proband with the iliotobial syndrome problems. The main aim of the thesis is to propose an adequate therapy according to the diagnosis with the application of the accurate physiotherapy methods from the accute phase up to the return to running.
