Táto práca sa zaoberá modelom racionálneho návyku, ktorý popísal Gary S. Becker a Kevin M. Murphy. Práca je rozdelená do štyroch kapitol. V prvej kapitole je popísaná tradičná teória spotrebiteľa a základné metódy riešenia optimalizačných úloh. Druhá kapitola sa zaoberá prístupom Garyho Beckera k preferenciám a spotrebiteľskej voľbe.
