History and Evolution of Japanese Gardens (with Examples from the Czech Republic)

Abstract:

Tato práce je uvedením do tematiky japonských zahrad. Má za úkol nastínit postupný vývoj japonských zahrad na území Japonska, historicky zařadit jednotlivé fenomény. V každém historickém období je proto vysvětleno, čím bylo charakteristické, jaká forma zahrad v těchto letech vznikala a s jakými myšlenkami se bylo možné setkávat. Dále jsou představeny nejvýznamnější osobnosti v rámci japonské zahradní architektury, zásadní díla a některé konkrétní podoby zahrad na území Japonska v daném historickém období. Je zde nastíněn průběh změn v rámci japonské zahradní architektury, reprezentován konkrétními pravidly, aspekty, které se zahradami byly svázané. V závorkách je rovněž uvedena terminologie týkající se japonských zahrad. Část práce je jako doložitelný vliv globalizace věnována vývoji japonských zahrad na území České republiky. Jsou zde představeny i dva konkrétní příklady zahrad v japonském stylu s jejich historií, typickými prvky a zásadními informacemi.

Abstract:

This thesis brings an introduction to the topic of Japanese gardens and outlines a gradual evolution of Japanese gardens within Japan. Each phenomenon is chronologically fitted into the history of Japan. For that reason, in every historical period, I outlined the typical features, mentioning what forms of gardens were developed and which ideas were characteristic for that period. The most important figures of the Japanese garden architecture are also included. I also mention some fundamental publications and specific types of gardens in Japan in that particular period. The thesis introduces the process of changes in Japanese garden architecture with its rules and typical aspects. Special terminology of Japanese garden art is explained in the brackets. Part of the thesis deals with Japanese garden art in the Czech Republic as a remarkable instance of the influence of globalization. The history of these gardens is partly introduced as well as the typical aspects and fundamental information about two concrete examples of gardens in Japanese style to be found in the Czech Republic.
