Veganism as a cultural phenomenon

Abstract:

Magisterská diplomová práce s názvem Veganství jako kulturní fenomén se bude zabývat fenoménem veganství dnešní doby. Práce bude postavena na pojmech subkultura, fenomén, hnutí a samotné veganství. V pomyslné první části se budeme věnovat vymezením samotných pojmů, na kterých práce stojí, především s přihlédnutím na jejich sociologický význam. Dále pak vývojem a historií, jak ve světě, tak v České republice. Nevynecháme ani dvě hlavní motivace vedoucí k veganství, a to etiku a ekologii. V druhé části se budeme věnovat současnosti a konkrétním organizacím působících u nás. Zaměříme se také na marketingovou komunikaci a reklamní taktiky a přístupy veganských hnutí a subkultur v Česku.

Abstract:

The master’s diploma thesis titled Veganism as a cultural phenomenon discusses the phenomenon of veganism today’s society. The thesis is based on the notions of subculture, phenomenon, movement and veganism itself. In the first part, we will focus of defining the above-mentioned terms, specifically focusing on their sociological meaning. Furthermore, the thesis discusses the development and history of veganism globally as well as in the Czech Republic. Two main motivational factors of veganism, namely ethics and ecology, are explained. The second part is focused on the present and specific organisations operating in our country. Here we also concentrate on marketing communications and advertising tactics and approaches of vegan movements and subcultures in the Czech Republic.
