Order of Crusaders for Pure Humor without Banter and its non-art

Abstract:

Práce si dává za cíl shrnout působení a oblasti aktivit nekonvenční skupiny „Křižovnická škola čistého humoru bez vtipu“. Tvorba skupiny spočívala v neuměleckosti založené na specifickém humoru jednotlivých členů, jenž byl zároveň nezbytným prostředkem pro vyrovnání se s politickou a společenskou situací komunistického Československa a postavením umělce této doby. Humor a působení skupiny byly neodmyslitelně zakořeněny v prostředí hospod. Tuhnutí atmosféry pookupačního dění však vedlo k hledání nových míst a forem společné zábavy. Byla to hlavně forma happeningu, která posléze posunula KŠ do sféry zájmu uměleckého světa. Přesto se členové skupiny bránili a dodnes brání označení jejich činnosti za uměleckou. Práce si proto klade otázku, jakou míru pozornosti si zaslouží tyto aktivity, jež očividně mají atributy uměleckého počinu, ale jejich autoři jejich umělecký status odmítají. Hlavním cílem práce je obhájit roli KŠ na poli teorie umění, jež ji tolik opomíjí.

Abstract:

The purpose of this essay is to resume fields of activities of the unconventional group „Order of Crusaders for Pure Humor without Banter and its non-art“. The production of group lies in the non-artistic tendences based on specific humor of its single members which was the only way out to put up with the political and social situation of the comunistic Czechoslovakia and the role of the artist of his day. The humor and activities were rooted in the environment of pubs. The atmosphere getting worse after the occupation in 1968 leads to searching for new places and forms of group´s creations. It was primary form of happening what moved the group under the interest of the world of art. Despite of that the artists defend from designating their production as artistic. The essay asks the question which level of attention do groups which refuse the status of being artistic deserve. The main point of the essay is to defend the role of the group on the field of art theory which still so much misses it out.
