Prediction Market

Abstract:

Prediction market is a market created for purpose of making predictions of outcome of uncertain future evenet. Market price then can be interpreted as probability of the event. The aim of this thesis is to provide comprehensive introduction to prediction markets with accent to theoretical and practical apsects. First chapter deals with the basic terms and principles of prediction markets. Second chapter presents discussion of one of the most important topic in theory of prediction markets - interpretation of price on prediction markets. Third chapter is focused on prediction markets in practice and lists few stylized facts, examples of well known prediction markets and possible application in business.

Abstract:

Predikčný trh je trh vytvorený za účelom predpovede výsledku budúcej udalosti. Tržná cena tak može byť interpretovaná ako pravdepodobnosť nastatia tejto udalosti. Cieľom tejto práce je poskytnúť obsiahly úvod k predikčným trhom a dorazom na teoretické a praktické aspekty. V prvej kapitole sú objasnené základné pojmy a princípy fungovania predikčných trhov. Druhá sa zaoberá diskusiou jednej z najvýznamnejších tém v teórii predikčných trhov, a tou je interpretácia ceny na predikčnom trhu. Tretia kapitola má praktické zameranie a popisuje štylizované fakty, príklady známych predikčných trhov a možné aplikácie v podnikovej praxi.
