The accursed poets´ musicality influence on Czech symbolism

Abstract:

Diplomová práce je zaměřena na zkoumání vlivu ?hudebnosti? prokletých básníků v poezii předního českého symbolisty Otokara Březiny. Práce je rozdělena na dvě části, teoretickou a praktickou. Teoretická část postihuje vznik a vývoj symbolistního směru v českém i světovém literárněhistorickém kontextu, přičemž jsou zmíněny specifické znaky symbolismu a jeho spojitost s dekadencí. V souvislosti s francouzským symbolismem je pozornost věnována prokletým básníkům, zvláště jejich nejvýznamnějšímu představiteli Charlesu Baudelairovi. Samostatná kapitola se zabývá vývojem symbolismu v díle Otokara Březiny. Praktická část zkoumá vliv hudby na poezii prokletých básníků a zjišťuje, do jaké míry inspirovala ?hudebnost? jejich básní českého symbolistu Otokara Březinu. Jednotlivé kapitoly této části sledují působení hudby na zvukovou a motivickou stránku básní a na využívání hudebních principů v básních. Březinova inspirace ?hudebností? prokletých básníků je doložena na základě srovnávání jednotlivých ukázek básnických textů.

Abstract:

The final thesis is focused on the investigation of the accursed poets´ musicality influence on Otokar Brezina´s poetry. The present work is divided into two parts: a theoretical and a practical part. The theoretical part covers the origin and the evolution of the symbolism in the Czech as well as in the world literature and history context, whereas there are some specific features of symbolism mentioned as well as its link to decadence. In connection with the French symbolism, the attention is paid to the accursed poets, above all to their most important representative, Charles Baudelaire. A separate chapter is dedicated to the evolution of the symbolism in Brezina´s work. The practical part explores the musical influence on the poetry of the accursed poets and investigates the volume of inspiration of their musicality in Brezina´s poetry. The chapters deal with the music effects on the sonic and thematic part of the poems and on the usage of musical principles in them. Brezina´s inspiration by the musicality of the accursed poets is proved by the comparison of the fragments of the poetic texts.
