The Thesis is divided into three chapters. The first chapter deals with characteristic of loan portfolio of a commercial bank, and it explains the basic notion which is connected with the loans. Diplomová práca je rozdelená do troch kapitol. Prvá kapitola sa zameriava na charakterizovanie úverového portfólia komerčnej banky, rozoberá pojem bankovníctva, charakterizuje bankový systém, komerčnú banku, aktívne a pasívne operácie bánk ako aj samotné bilancie komerčnej banky.
