Arad and Beersheba Findings as an Archaeological Evidence of Religious Reforms by the Judahite Kings

Anotace:

Tato práce se zabývá náboženskými reformami judských králů Chizkijáše a Jošijáše – tím jak jsou tyto reformy popsány v textech Hebrejské bible a jak jsou doložitelné archeologickými nálezy v Aradu, kde byl nalezen rituálně zrušený chrám, a Beerševě, v níž byly nalezeny sekundárně použité části rituálně demontovaného oltáře. Vedle toho se také ptá, zda jsou tyto náboženské reformy judských králů konstruktem deuteronomistické teologie, za účelem idealizace doby Chizkijáše a Jošijáše. K zodpovězení těchto otázek jsou využity texty Hebrejské bible, mimobiblické texty (např. asyrské, babylónské, egyptské) a archelogické nálezy z Aradu a Beerševy. Na příkladu těchto dvou lokalit a problému náboženské reformy se ukáže také vztah biblických a mimobiblických textových pramenů, vztah textů a archeologických nálezů a vliv ideologických motivů badatele na průběh a výsledky výzkumu.

Abstract:

The focus of this work is the religious reforms of Judahite kings Hezekiah and Josiah – the way how those reforms are depicted in the texts of the Hebrew Bible, and how the archaeological findings of Arad, where a ritually canceled temple was found, and Beersheba, where parts of a ritually dismantled altar were in secondary use, reflect them. Besides it asks if the religious reforms of Judahite kings are a construct of the Deuteronomistic theology, giving an idealized depiction of Hezekiah’s and Josiah’s times. To answer those questions texts of the Hebrew Bible, extrabiblical texts (e.g. Assyrian, Babylonian, Egyptian) and archaeological findings of Arad and Beersheba are used. Those two cases and the problematic of religious reforms will also demonstrate the relationship between biblical and extrabiblical texts, between texts and archaeological findings, and how ideological motives of the researcher influent the process and findings of a research.
