Ransomware as Threat to Czech National Cyber Security

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zaměřuje na působení ransomwaru na národní kybernetickou bezpečnost České republiky, respektive zranitelnosti, které se s působením fenoménu v oblasti pojí. K odhalení zranitelností byla v rámci práce použita metoda scénářů umožňující vykreslení možných budoucích příběhů. Scénáře se odehrávají v časovém horizontu pěti let. Práce se organizačně dělí do dvou hlavních částí, kdy první část práce se zabývá zvolenou metodologií, teorií a konceptuálním vymezením nezbytných pojmů. Následující analytická část práce se skládá ze tří scénářů. První scénář představuje extrapolaci současného stavu a následující dva scénáře pozitivní a negativní vývoj, přičemž se snaží o komplexní popis problematiky spojené s působením ransomwaru jako hrozby. Na základě zpětného hodnocení scénářů jsou stanoveny zranitelnosti plynoucí z nedostatečných kapacit, které jsou i kategorizovány.

Abstract:

The diploma thesis focuses on the impact of the ransomware on the Czech national cyber security, more precisely on the vulnerabilities connected to the impact of the phenomena in the area. To reveal the vulnerabilities thesis uses method of scenarios enabling portrayal of probable future states. The scenarios take place in five years long time horizon. The thesis is divided into two main parts, the first part is focused on chosen methodology, theory and conceptualization of all necessary terms. The subsequent analytical part of the thesis is composed of three scenarios. The first one represents extrapolation of present state and remaining two scenarios represent positive and negative development with effort to complexly describe issues connected with impact of the ransomware as a threat. The emerging vulnerabilities with regard to insufficient capacities resulting from scenarios are described and categorized on the basis of retrospective review.
