The bachelor thesis ‘Well as a discourse marker in academic spoken discourse’ investigates the functions and frequency of the discourse marker well in various speech event categories set in an academic environment. The data for the analysis have been taken from the Michigan Corpus of Academic Spoken English. The thesis is divided into two parts – theoretical and practical.
