The hyperbole in the press in contemporary French : utilization and function

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis deals with the use of hyperbole on websides of the French press. In the first theoretical part we find basic definiton and characteristics of hyperbole. We focuse also on qualities of journalistic style in order to find the coherence between journalistic compositions and the cause of the occurence of hyperbole in the articles in the press. The discovered theoretical findings lead to the identification, selection and followup analysis. In the practical part we present various types of hyperbole that occur in contemporary French press. What is observed is mean, how hyperboles are creates, the places of their occurrence and an effect on readers. All of choosen examples are taken over and cited from the websites of the French press.

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá použitím hyperboly, jako konotačně expresivního prostředku, ve francouzském tisku. V úvodní teoretické části najdeme základní definice hyperboly a její charakteristiku. Teoreticky se věnujeme také žurnalistickému stylu, abychom postihli souvislost mezi tímto typem slohu a použitím hyperboly v novinových článcích. Získané teoretické poznatky vedou k identifikaci, výběru a následnému rozboru příkladů. V praktické části uvádíme různé typy hyperboly, které se vyskytují v současném francouzském tisku. Pozorujeme čím jsou tvořeny, místa jejich výskytu a vliv na čtenáře. Vybrané případy jsou převzaty a citovány z internetových stránek francouzských novin.
