Punctuation marks in portuguese and use of commas in the language of journalism

Abstract:

The aim of this bachelor thesis is the analysis of the use of punctuation marks in contemporary Portuguese, focused on comma. In the theoretical part, there is a description of punctuation rules; its last chapter is dedicated to the analysis of the use of the comma. The practical part verifies the observance of these rules in the corpus, which is composed of the contemporary Portuguese news texts. The first chapter of this part analyzes the use of commas, whether separating sentence elements or clauses in sentences. The second chapter focuses on the different use of other punctuation marks in comparison with the theoretical part.

Abstract:

Cílem této bakalářské práce je analýza použití interpunkčních znamének v současné portugalštině se zaměřením na čárku. V teoretické části jsou nejprve popsána pravidla pro psaní interpunkčních znamének; její poslední kapitola je věnována analýze použití čárky z hlediska syntaktického. Praktická část ověřuje dodržování těchto pravidel v korpusu, který je tvořen současnými portugalskými zpravodajskými texty. První podkapitola této části analyzuje použití čárky, ať už odděluje větné členy od zbytku sdělení, nebo věty v souvětí. Druhá a poslední kapitola si všímá rozdílného užití ostatních interpunkčních znamének v porovnání s teoretickou částí.
