Most - city of sport. Geographical analysis of sport in Czech cities

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce zkoumá význam sportu a rekreace ve městě Most v Ústeckém kraji. Analyzuje postavení Mostu v porovnání s ostatními městy z hlediska počtu sportovních areálů, organizací a jich členů a zájmu o občanů o sportovní aktivity. Využívá kombinaci kvantitativních metod, konkrétněji analýzu statistických dat, územních a strategických plánů a dotazníkového šetření k posouzení spokojenosti obyvatel s nabídkou sportovních aktivit a zjištění názorů na důležitost sportu pro město. V rámci rešeršní části se práce zabývá historií sportu ve městě Most, ale i v Česku a ve světě, rozebírá společenský význam sportu a jeho postavení v kontextu udržitelného rozvoje. Z výsledků provedených analýz vyplývá, že město Most není nikterak výjimečné z hlediska počtu sportovců a sportovních oddílů, ale má výborné podmínky z hlediska rozsahu sportovních areálů budovaných na výsypkách a jiných oblastech bývalé těžby. Hlavním zjištěním dotazníkového šetření je, že obyvatelé města jsou spokojení s tím, jaký město klade důraz na sport a rekreaci.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis examines the importance of sport and recreation in the city of Most in the Ústí nad Labem region. It analyses the position of Most in comparison with other cities in terms of the number of sports facilities, organisations and their members and the interest of citizens in sport activities. It uses a combination of quantitative methods, specifically analysis of statistical data, spatial and strategic plans and a questionnaire survey to assess the satisfaction of residents with the range of sporting activities on offer and to ascertain opinions on the importance of sport for the city. The theoretical part of the thesis deals with the history of sport in the city of Most, as well as in the Czech Republic and the world, discusses the social significance of sport and its position in the context of sustainable development. The results of the analyses show that the city of Most is not exceptional in terms of the number of athletes and sports clubs, but has excellent conditions in terms of the scale of sports facilities built on spoil heaps and other areas of former mining. The main finding of the questionnaire survey is that the inhabitants of the town are satisfied with the town's emphasis on sport and recreation.
