The Cistercian's Pilgrimage Place Velehrad

Abstract:

Cílem práce je podat ucelený pohled na historii velehradského kláštera a to od vzniku samotného cisterciáckého řádu, přes působení řádu v českých zemích konkrétně na Moravě, historii křesťanství a jeho rozšíření, životy Konstantina a Metoděje, dějiny byzantské misie na Velké Moravě až po samotnou ikonografii a dnešní podobu velehradského kláštera. Autorka se v práci věnuje poutnímu místu Velehrad. Popisuje jeho vznik, bohatou historii, obnovení a současnou podobu. Práce je doplněna fotografiemi, které autorka pořídila během návštěvy Velehradu. Odkaz kláštera nese velké kulturní bohatství. Cisterciácký řád byl důležitým zdrojem v liturgické oblasti. Tento řád přinesl důležité kroniky a odborná díla. Cisterciácké knihovny jsou jedny z nejbohatších ze všech řeholních řádů v České republice a to i přesto, že velká část jich byla během požárů a válek zničena.

Abstract:

The aim of the work is to give a comprehensive view of the history of velehrad monastery. The work is focused on the origin of the cistercian order, through the action of the order in the Czech lands specifically in Moravia, the history of christianity and its extension, the lives of Constantine and Methodius, the history of the byzantine mission to Great Moravia. There is also a part about the iconography and today's form of the velehrad monastery. The author of the work dedicated to the pilgrimage place of Velehrad. She describes its creation, the rich history, restoration and current form. The work is completed by photographs, which the author took during her visitation of Velehrad. The link of the monastery carries great cultural wealth. The cistercian order was an important source in the liturgical area. This order brought the important chronicles and professional work. Cistercian libraries are one of the richest of all the monastic orders in the Czech republic and this despite the fact that a large part of them was destroyed during the fires and wars.
