Sex education at elementary school with a significant part of Vietnamese students

Abstract:

Diplomová práce je zaměřená na specifika vietnamského etnika a hledání vhodných forem a přístupů ke školní sexuální výchově u vietnamských žáků a jejich rodičů. Sociální a kulturní odlišnosti vietnamských dětí i rodičů v souvislosti s jejich odlišnou kulturní, náboženskou a hodnotovou orientací vyžadují specifický přístup. Teoretická část práce stručně zmiňuje vietnamské dějiny, kulturu a zvyky Vietnamu a dále se věnuje vybraným aspektům života vietnamské komunity v ČR, zejména partnerským vztahům, roli žen a sexuální osvětě ve vietnamských rodinách. Autorka předložila též stručný přehled sexuální výchovy a morálky ve světě zejména v souvislosti s převládajícím náboženstvím v jednotlivých zemích. Je zde dále porovnána metodika sexuální výchovy na základní škole v ČR a v EU. Empirická část práce je založena na kvantitativním výzkumu. Základní principy metodiky kvantitativního výzkumu uvádí autorka v prvním odstavci empirické části. Cílem výzkumu bylo zjistit názory rodičů vietnamských dětí na výuku výchovy ke zdraví, jejíž součástí je sexuální výchova, a porovnat je s názory českých rodičů. Tematicky obdobný byl výzkum (přizpůsobený věku respondentů) mezi vietnamskými a českými žáky. Přínosem práce měla být lepší orientace pedagogů v problematice sexuální výchovy ve třídách s účastí vietnamského etnika, a doporučení vhodných metod a přístupů k sexuální výchově, opřené o poznatky v empirické části diplomové práce.

Abstract:

Thesis annotation The diploma thesis is focused on the specifics of the Vietnamese ethnic group and the search for suitable forms and approaches to school sexual education for Vietnamese pupils and their parents. The social and cultural differences of Vietnamese children and parents in relation to their different cultural, religious and value orientations require a specific approach. The theoretical part of the thesis briefly mentions the Vietnamese history, culture and customs of Vietnam and also deals with selected aspects of life of the Vietnamese community in the Czech Republic, especially partnerships, the role of women and sexual education in Vietnamese families. The author also presented a brief overview of sex education and morality in the world, especially in connection with the predominant religion in individual countries. The methodology of sexual education at primary school in the Czech Republic and in the EU is also compared. The empirical part of the work is based on qualitative research. The basic principles of the methodology of qualitative research are presented by the author in the first paragraph of the empirical part. The aim of the research was to find out the opinions of parents of Vietnamese children on the teaching of health education, which includes sex education, and to compare them with the opinions of Czech parents. The research (adapted to the age of the respondents) among Vietnamese and Czech pupils was thematically similar. The contribution of the work should be a better orientation of teachers in the field of sex education in classes with the participation of the Vietnamese ethnic group, and recommendations for appropriate methods and approaches to sex education, based on knowledge in the empirical part of the thesis.
