The Comparison of the education systems in England and in the Czech Republic

Abstract:

Cílem bakalářské práce je komparace vzdělávacích systémů Spojeného království Velké Británie a Severního Irska, zejména historické země Anglie, a České republiky se zaměřením na terciární vzdělávání. Téma jsem si zvolila v souvislosti s neustále diskutovaným záměrem české vlády zavést školné na veřejných vysokých školách. V Anglii již tento systém mnoho let funguje. Budu se zabývat pouze vysokými veřejnými školami, soukromé vysoké školy vůbec nezmiňuji. Taktéž rozeberu strukturu terciárního vzdělávání v Anglii i v České republice. Budu charakterizovat současné financování britského a českého vzdělávání. Poukážu na to, jak je student vysoké školy nákladný pro český státní rozpočet. Pokusím se objasnit, proč je reforma v České republice potřebná. Objasním nejnovější návrh české vlády o placení školného. Pro srovnání jak českého, tak britského terciárního vzdělávání použiji SWOT analýzu. Zmíním se o možnosti uplatnění vysokoškolsky vzdělaných lidí na trzích práce obou zemí. Závěrem se pokusím formulovat doporučení, které může být východiskem pro nastavení placení školného v České republice.

Abstract:

The goal of my bachelor thesis is the Comparison of the education systems in the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, particularly England, and in the Czech Republic focusing on the tertiary education. I have chosen this topic because of the constantly discussed Czech government's intention to introduce tuition at Czech public universities. In England, the system of tuitions at universities has been practised for many years. The thesis analyses only public universities, private universities are not mentioned. Also, the thesis analyses the structure of the tertiary systems in England and in the Czech Republic. The thesis describes current funding for the British and Czech education. The thesis shows the amount of financial resources from the state budget of the Czech Republic required to finance one university student. I try to clarify why the reform in the Czech Republic is needed. The thesis shows the latest tuition policy proposal of the Czech government. The thesis compares Czech and British tertiary systems on the basic of the SWOT analysis. It also deals with the assertion tertiary education graduates on the labour markets of both countries. The end of the thesis formulates the recommendation, which can serve as a basic for tuition policy in the Czech Republic.
