Literature from Hlučín region written in german language on an example of the Novels Das Eisenwerk and Baba und ihre Kinder by August Scholtis

Abstract:

This diploma thesis deals with a literary analysis of two novels, "Baba and Her Children" and "The Ironworks" written by August Scholtis. The literary analysis is carried out in a regional and ideological context. The focus within the regional problematics is put on the areas of the Upper Silesia and the Hlučín region where August Scholtis was born. We can asume the analysed work was ideological as both of the novels were published in the 1930's during the Nazi regime. The other aspect of the analysis is the revelation of their stylization and tendentiousness. The theoretical overview clarifies essential terms such as regioanl literature, the Upper Silesia region, the personality of August Scholtis and idelogical literature. Based on these terms the empirical literary analysis, creating two schemes ? regional and ideological, is performed.

Abstract:

V mnou předložené diplomové práci budou literárně analyzovány dva romány, a to Baba a její děti a Železárny, jejichž autorem je August Scholtis. Literární analýza bude provedena v regionálním a ideologickém kontextu. V rámci regionální problematiky bude upřena pozornost na oblast Horního Slezska a Hlučínska, ve které se August Scholtis narodil. Ideologičnost díla lze předpokládat proto, že oba romány byly vydány ve třicátých letech v období nacismu. Odhalení jejich stylizace a tendenčnosti představuje druhý aspekt analýzy. V teoretickém přehledu budou objasněny důležité pojmy, jimiž jsou regionální literatura, region Horní Slezsko, osobnost Augusta Scholtise a ideologická literatura. Na pozadí těchto pojmů bude provedena empirická literární analýza, která vytvoří dvě schémata ? regionální a ideologické.
