The Annotated Translation of a Short Story The Light of Horizon by V. Pelevin

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce se zaměřuje na obecné otázky teorie překladu a jejího praktického použití v praxi. Na základě teorie, kterou jsme zkráceně uvedli v první kapitole byla přeložena povídka významného současného ruského spisovatele Viktora Pelevina ?Svit gorizonta?. Druhá kapitola byla věnována autorově osobě a především jeho tvorbě. V poslední části jsme přeloženou povídku analyzovali z hlediska problematických míst, s kterými jsme se setkali při překladu. Na jednotlivých příkladech jsme rozebrali zvolená překladatelská řešení.

Abstract:

This Diploma Thesis focuses on the general issues of translation theory and its practical application in practice. On the basis of the theory which we commonly stated in the first chapter, we have translated a story written by a significant contemporary Russian writer Viktor Pelevin, ?Svit gorizonta?. The second chapter was devoted to the author's personality and especially his creation. In the last part we analyzed the translated story from the standpoint of bottlenecks, with which we met during our translation. We examined in each example the selected translation solutions.
