Epilepsy and its pharmacological treatment as a factor affecting cognitive function in a child with PAS

Abstract:

Kognitivní poruchy u dětí s epilepsií a poruchou autistického spektra mohou mít významný dopad na jejich schopnost učení, komunikace a další kognitivní dovednosti. Je důležité zkoumat vliv epileptické aktivity v mozku na tyto kognitivní funkce a také zjistit, jak antiepileptická léčba ovlivňuje jejich vývoj. Teoretická část mojí bakalářské práce obsahuje souhrn relevantních teoretických poznatků o epilepsii, poruše autistického spektra, kognitivních funkcích a farmakologické léčbě Budu analyzovat dostupnou literaturu a kombinovat ji s pozorováním a rozhovory s rodiči, abych mohla lépe porozumět vztahu mezi epilepsií, léčbou a kognitivními funkcemi. Je důležité zhodnotit všechny dostupné informace a získat poznatky, které mohou přispět k lepšímu porozumění této problematiky a případně navrhnout vhodná opatření pro podporu dětí s epilepsií a poruchou autistického spektra

Abstract:

Cognitive impairment in children with epilepsy and autism spectrum disorder can have a significant impact on their ability to learn, communicate and other cognitive skills. It is important to investigate the effect of epileptic activity in the brain on these cognitive functions and also to determine how antiepileptic treatment affects their development. The theoretical part of my undergraduate thesis contains a summary of relevant theoretical knowledge about epilepsy, autism spectrum disorder, cognitive function and pharmacological treatment I will analyse the available literature and combine it with observations and interviews with parents to better understand the relationship between epilepsy, treatment and cognitive function. It is important to evaluate all the available information and gain insights that can contribute to a better understanding of this issue and possibly suggest appropriate interventions to support children with epilepsy and autism spectrum disorder.
