The concept of network society

Abstract:

Hlavním tématem této práce je koncept organizace sítí. Tento koncept vychází z teorie sociálních sítí, kterou zpopularizoval známý španělský sociolog Manuel Castells ve své trilogii nazvané The Informational Age (Castells 2000). Koncept síťové společnosti zasahuje do všech sfér společnosti, do oblasti médií, zaměstnanosti, bezpečnosti, i právě do oblasti organizačních vztahů. Tato bakalářská práce se zaměřuje na organizační sítě, které se utvářejí mezi organizacemi v komerčním sektoru. Cílem této bakalářské práce je vyzdvihnout některé názory a pohledy odborníků, které jsou s organizačními sítěmi spjaty. Jedná se tedy o výběr témat, která čtenáři poskytnou odrazový můstek k dalšímu hlubšímu studiu síťových organizací. V tomto textu jsou organizační sítě rozděleny na několik základních druhů podle jejich společných vlastností, a to na otevřené, uzavřené sítě a strategické aliance (homogenního/heterogenního či horizontálního/vertikálního charakteru). Práce se také nevyhýbá tématu důvěry, která má v organizačních sítích nezastupitelnou podobu.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis deals with the concept of network organizations. This concept is based on the theory of network society which has been popularized by a well-known Spanish sociologist, Manuel Castells, and his trilogy The Informational Age (Castells, 2000). The concept of network society has a considerable influence on all spheres of the society such as mass media, employment, security and organizational relations. The thesis concentrates on those organizational networks which are formed among organizations in the commercial sector. The aim of the thesis is to focus on some views and opinions of experts in this field. A selection of views and topic is introduced, and thus the thesis can serve as a starting point for further study of network organizations. Individual organizational networks are classified into several basic categories according to their common characteristics, namely they are divided into open and close networks, and into strategic alliances (of homogeneous/ heterogeneous, vertical/ horizontal character). The thesis also deals with the theme of trust which is related to the main topic of the thesis.
