Abstract:
This dissertation focuses on the investigation of intermediates that are generated by light absorption or thermal activation upon pyrolysis, and their reac¬tivity which determines the outcome of their subsequent chemical reactions. In the first chapter, the mechanisms for the photolysis of compounds containing a photoremovable protecting group (PPG) are studied by quantum-chemical calcu¬lations that …moreAbstract:
lyl diradi¬caloid that can form neither the corresponding cyclopropanone nor the isomeric allene oxide; instead, it is trapped by water to form a solvolysis product. Our observa¬tions provide a comprehensive overview of the role of oxyallyl diradicals in reaction mechanisms in general, and offer a new strategy to stabilize open-shell singlet diradicals. Chapter 2 is devoted to the study of carbonylvinylnitrenes …moreKeywords
