The profession of midwife from the public's perspective

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se komplexně věnuje profesi porodní asistentky. Je rozdělena na část teoretickou a praktickou. Teoretická část se věnuje historii profese, vzdělávání, pro-fesním organizacím, legislativě a pracovištím, kde může porodní asistentka působit. Velkou kapitolou je péče, kterou může poskytovat porodní asistentka ženám v průběhu celého je-jich života. Praktická část je tvořena kvantitativním výzkumem. Cílem dotazníkového šet-ření bylo zjistit informovanost veřejnosti o profesi. V závěru práce představuji výsledky získané ve výzkumu, které poukazuji pouze na okrajové znalosti veřejnosti. I přes tyto vý-sledky si velká část veřejnosti myslí, že se jedná o důležitou profesi.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis is a comprehensive study of the midwifery profession. It is di-vided into theoretical and practical parts. The theoretical part deals with the history of the profession, education, professional organisations, legislation and workplaces where mid-wives can work. A large section is the care that midwives can provide to women throu-ghout their lives. The practical part consists of quantitative research. The aim of the questi-onnaire survey was to find out the public's awareness of the profession. In the conclusion of the thesis I present the results obtained in the research, which show only marginal know-ledge of the public. Despite these results, a large part of the public thinks that it is an im-portant profession.
