Turkey as a candidate for accession to the European Union

Abstract:

Vztah Evropské unie k Turecku je velice složitý a má mnohá specifika. Turecko je spjaté s Evropskou unií déle než 50 let. Přesto se stále nestalo jejím členem. Cílem práce je představit diskuzi na půdě Evropské unie a shrnout kroky, kterými Evropská unie oddaluje vstup Turecka. Z tohoto důvodu je práce nejdříve věnována přístupovým jednáním jednotlivých členských států a kritériím, která byla pro jejich vstup nastavena. Na základě souhrnu základních hledisek, kterým se v práci budu věnovat, tj. ekonomické, vnitropolitické, zahraničně-politické a sociálně kulturní, se budu zabývat diskuzi na půdě Evropské unie o případném přijetí či nepřijetí a na základě toho bych chtěla poukázat na "přisnější" podmínky ohledně přístupu než které byly nastaveny pro jiné členské státy.

Abstract:

The relationship of the EU and Turkey is very complicated and there are many particularities. Turkey is connected with the EU for more than 50 years. Nevertheless it has never become a member. The objective is to present a discussion concerning the EU and to summarise the steps by which the EU postpone the entry of Turkey. For this reason the thesis is devoted to the accession negotiations of the particular states and the criteria which were set for their entrance. On the base of the basic aspects which I am going to focus on: economic, internal political, foreign policy and social cultural, I am going to discuss concerning the EU about a possible acceptance or rejection and on the basis of I would like to highlight to conditions concerning the entrance which are ?more strict? than for other member states. ..
