The aim of this bachelor thesis was to describe the linguistic situation in Paraguay, outline its development and present the Guaraní language and its dialect Jopará. It also presents one of the major writers of Paraguay, Augusto Roa Bastos, his major pieces and to what extent is his work was influenced by the use of the Guarani language. Cílem této bakalářské práce bylo přiblížit lingvistickou situaci v Paraguaji, nastínit její vývoj a představit jazyk guaraní a jeho dialekt jopará. Dále představit jednoho z hlavních paraguayských spisovatelů, Augusta Roa Basta, jeho stěžejní díla a do jaké míry byla jeho tvorba ovlivněna užíváním jazyku guaraní.
