N. M. Karamzin Among Literary Currents

Abstract:

Předkládaná bakalářská práce se zabývá analýzou literární tvorby Nikolaje Michajloviče Karamzina, důraz je kladen na spisovatelův stěžejní přechod od beletrie k historické tvorbě. Jako pomyslný most je zvolena historická povídka Starostka Marta aneb dobytí Novgorodu, která je postavena na reálném historickém podkladu. Dále se práce zaměřuje na hlavní literární směry 18. a počátku 19. století, jejich možný vliv na tvorbu N. M. Karamzina a průběh těchto směrů jak v západní tak východní Evropě. Práce si klade za cíl poukázat na prolínání sentimentalismu s prvky dalších literárních směrů, na základě čehož může být vnímán N. M. Karamzin jako spisovatel mezi literárními proudy.

Abstract:

Presented bachelor’s thesis deals with an analysis of the literary work of Nikolai Mikhailovich Karamzin with an emphasis on the writer’s major transition from fiction to his historical work. A historical tale, Martha the Mayoress, which is built on a real historical background, was chosen as an imaginary bridge. The thesis further focuses on the main literary directions of the 18th and the beginning of the 19th centuries, their possible influence on the work of N. M. Karamzin and the process of these directions in both Western and Eastern Europe. The thesis aims to point out the intertwining of sentimentalism with the elements of other literary directions, on the basis of which N. M. Karamzin can be perceived as a writer among literary movements.
