Communication Structure and Communication Channels Used by the Brno Group of Amnesty International

Abstract:

Cílem této práce je zmapovat, jakými způsoby využívá organizace Amnesty International komunikační struktury a komunikačních kanálů ke své činnosti v oblasti ochrany lidských práv. Práce se snaží postihnout komunikační strukturu organizace a kanály, díky nimž probíhá organizace a tok informací, a to konkrétně na příkladu jedné z regionálních poboček Amnesty International – Brněnské skupině. Práce se bude se zabývat tím, jaké komunikačními kanály a prostředky členové Brněnské skupiny používají a proč. Zaměří se na to, jak skupina využívá těchto kanálů k získávání informací i k prosazování svých cílů v oblasti politiky lidských práv, ale také k šíření informací do veřejného povědomí, ale i na reakce, které toto šíření informací u veřejnosti vyvolává. Tato nevládní organizace pracuje na základě informační politiky, ke své činnosti a organizaci využívá nových médií a technologií a dobře fungující komunikace je pro prosazování jejich cílů velmi důležitá. Aby bylo transparentní, jak probíhá komunikace v rámci organizace, budou v práci zmíněny také struktury národní a mezinárodní, hlavní pozornost však bude zaměřena na komunikaci týkající se Brněnské skupiny.

Abstract:

The aim of this paper is to monitor how the Amnesty International uses its communication structure and communication channels for its activities in protection human rights. The paper focus on describing the organizational structure and communication channels which enable the organization and the flow of information. Special attention will be allocated to the story of one of the Amnesty International regional offices – the Brno group. The thesis will examine what kinds of communication channels and means the members of the Brno group use and why. In particular, we will concentrate on how the group uses these channels to obtain information as well as to promote its policy goals of human rights. Moreover, it will asses the use of channels to disseminate information to increase public awareness and the reactions which this dissemination invokes among the public. This nongovernmental organization operates on a basis of information policy and it uses new media and technologies for its activity and organization. Efficient communication is the core for the success of their activities. In order to better explain how the communication process works for the organization as a whole, there will also be mentioned the national and international structures; but the main focus will be oriented on communication regarding the Brno group.
