Hlavným cieľom predkladanej práce je nájsť odpoveď na otázku, či je v kontexte vývoja Spoločnej bezpečnostnej a zahraničnej politiky EÚ, s dôrazom na jej obrannú dimenziu, po roku 2003 a jej zapojeniu sa do riešeniu konfliktov v Gruzínsku naďalej možné označovať EÚ ako civilnú mocnosť.
