Biological toxins in the plant kingdom

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce s názvem „Biologické jedy v rostlinné říši“ shrnuje poznatky o rostlinných jedech, jejich výskytu a jejich působení na lidský organismus. První část bakalářské práce obsahuje vysvětlení několika základních termínů, včetně samotné toxikologie, následují místa výskytu jedu v rostlinách a rostlinné metabolismy. V další části jsou krátkou charakteristikou popsány skupiny účinných jedů, uvedeny jsou zástupci spadající do konkrétní skupiny a vždy jeden ze zástupců je podrobněji rozebrán. Dále pak je zpracován zvláštní projev toxicity, fotosenzibilizace, a přecitlivělost organismu na cizí látky, alergie. V závěrečných kapitolách je rozebrána prudkost a příčiny otrav, dále jak rostlinné jedy mohou působit na lidský organismus a na konec první pomoc při otravách jedovatou rostlinou.

Abstract:

The bachelor thesis titled "Biological toxins in the plant kingdom" summarizes findings on plant toxins, their occurrence and their effect on human organism. The first part of the bachelor thesis contains an explanation of several basic terms, including toxicology itself, and it is followed by the locations of toxins occurrence in plants and plant metabolism. The next part briefly characterizes groups of active toxins, mentions representatives of the particular groups and one of these is always examined in more detail. Furthermore, a specific manifestation of toxicity, photosensitization, and hypersensitivity of organism to foreign matters, allergy, are elaborated. In the final chapters, the severity and causes of poisoning are discussed followed with what effect plant toxins can have on human organism and, finally, first aid in case of poisonous plant poisoning is mentioned.
