Meme as Means of Raising the Interest in Problems of Racism on the Internet and in the Media

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se věnuje otázkám memu na internetu a v mediích. V teoretické části se věnujeme vysvětlení klíčových pojmů o memetice, o významu memů, o internetu jako způsobu šíření memů a o rasismu. Praktická část se zaměřuje na fenomén memů a jeho vliv na společnost a jak se díky nim řeší mnoho rasistických otázek na globální úrovni. Cílem bakalářské práce je ukázat fungování memů jako sociálních nástrojů pro zvýšení zájmu o problematiku rasismu na internetu a v mediích.

Abstract:

This bachelor's thesis deals with the matters of memes which appear on the Internet and in the media. In the theoretical part, we explain key concepts concerning memetics, the meaning of mems, and the Internet as a way of spreading memes about racism. The practical part focuses on the phenomenon of memes, its impact on society and how it helps solving issues of racism at the global level. The aim of this bachelor's thesis is to show the functioning of memes as a social tool to raise interest in the issues of racism on the Internet and in the media.
